About

One of the last grand adventures taken in 2025 was to Quenca, Ecuador. My purpose there was to tell stories through photography and filmmaking. I traveled throughout the region, learning about the Indigenous Andean Culture. The country was absolutely breathtaking as my eyes and heart took in the lands of the original Kanari people. This photograph was taken while visiting the primary sacred site for Mother Mary devotion. This is the southwest part of Ecuador, 28 km from Cuenca in El Cajas National Park. The park is well known for its rugged terrain that features picturesque landscapes characterized by valleys nestled in the Grandfather Mountains of Pachamama. This was one of those photographic moments that required a fair amount of patience to compose. For me, this photograph embodies the message of presence. I titled the piece, “Myth of Tomorrow,” because we only ever have now. Yes, another important reminder because where we place our will, action, reason, and emotion determines the quality of this very moment. Tomorrow is not the experience, only the one where we stand. For the animals im sure I was an anomaly for their simple way of existence. Standing a couple of meters away, dialing in an accurate light reading, one of the subjects' attention was pulled while the other was completely absorbed in grazing. The foreground needed to be properly illuminated since the sun was directly in front of me. Just before the trip, I acquired a couple of camera flashes from Lightpix that could be wirelessly synced together, paired with the Leica M6. In addition, I was experimenting with Kodak’s Tri-X 400 film-stock & an orange filter to get stronger black and white results.

This black-and-white landscape unfolds with a quiet, almost meditative stillness. In the foreground, two sheep occupy a gently sloping field of tall grass. One stands alert, facing the camera with a calm yet curious gaze, its body fully present in the moment. The other lowers its head, absorbed in grazing, seemingly unaware of the observer. This subtle contrast between attention and immersion becomes the emotional hinge of the image.

The land stretches outward into a vast, textured expanse. Tufts of grass ripple across uneven terrain, leading the eye toward a dense cluster of dark trees in the midground. Beyond them, the mountains rise—softly layered, their peaks fading into a pale, overcast sky. The atmosphere feels cool and expansive, with a delicate haze that blurs the boundary between earth and sky.

Light plays a crucial role in shaping the photograph. The foreground is carefully illuminated, allowing the sheep and surrounding grasses to stand out against the darker tones of the landscape. This controlled use of light creates depth while emphasizing the immediacy of the scene—the here and now—against the vast, timeless backdrop.

In the context of the artist’s reflection, “Myth of Tomorrow” becomes a meditation on presence. The two animals embody different states of being: one attentive, momentarily pulled into awareness, the other fully surrendered to its natural rhythm. Neither is concerned with what comes next. Their existence is rooted entirely in the present.

The photograph invites the viewer into that same awareness. The sweeping landscape may suggest distance and time, but the stillness of the moment resists any notion of future or past. Instead, it anchors everything in a single, fleeting now—reminding us that what we often chase as “tomorrow” is never experienced, only imagined.

Hello world, in this life, I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light, doors continue to open, giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator, telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
