About

2017 was a unique time in my life. I was 23, just beginning to ask those fundamental questions, leading me closer to who I am in my soul-searching. This was only the beginning of a deeper remembering. To be young and feel the keen sting of self-discovery and finding purpose. Consciousness and spirituality seemed to be expanding quickly. At that time, anywhere I ventured, there were very creatively driven beings around. Many would share about metaphysical practices, holistic ways of living, and esoteric texts. I was drifting away from mainstream music because countless local acts in Miami offered a new frequency to tune into. If you’ve never lived in this city, I’d describe it as being a very transitory place to be. In this beach town, people come and go, never staying too long. I’ve been fortunate enough to be in those containers when musicians like Siyah lived here. His music spoke deeply. His lyrics very poetic accompainied by painterly guitar compositions. I think about how joyous those experiences were at impromptu jams, gatherings, and events. What a time to live. I share this photo as a testament to my youth. Its important to feel inspired to be moved by the story of another. It’s been somewhat of a divine tapestry meeting people who walk a similar path. Where we intersect, we create unity points that have manifested in projects and beautiful memories.

This black-and-white portrait captures a moment of raw musical immersion, where sound, emotion, and presence converge into something almost tangible. A shirtless figure sits with an acoustic guitar resting across their lap, their body angled slightly inward as if folding into the music itself. Their head tilts down, eyes closed or half-lidded, lips parted mid-phrase—suggesting either a quiet lyric being sung or a breath carried between notes.

The musician’s dreadlocks fall freely around their face, adding to the organic, unfiltered quality of the scene. Their hand rests near the strings, fingers poised with familiarity, as though the instrument is less an object and more an extension of their inner voice. The guitar’s wood grain and circular soundhole are softly illuminated, grounding the composition with texture and warmth against the surrounding shadows.

Light plays a crucial role here. It falls gently across the subject’s face and upper body, carving out subtle highlights and deep contrasts that heighten the emotional gravity of the moment. The background fades into darkness, isolating the figure in a kind of intimate sonic space—one that feels both personal and universal.

In the context of the artist’s reflection, the photograph becomes more than a portrait; it is a document of a fleeting yet formative era. It speaks to a time of openness, when creative communities formed spontaneously and music served as a bridge between individuals searching for meaning. The image holds the spirit of those gatherings—unpolished, sincere, and deeply felt.

“A tale to tell” resonates through the subject’s expression and posture. There is a quiet storytelling happening here, not just through lyrics or melody, but through presence itself. The photograph preserves a moment where art and identity are still unfolding—where the act of creating becomes a way of understanding one’s place within a larger, ever-shifting tapestry of connection and experience.

Hello world, in this life, I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light, doors continue to open, giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator, telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
