About
Being a parent for four years now has helped me to see those around through a new lens every next encounter. My son, who first came to me as a stellar potato who couldn’t even move his head, surprises me every day with something he’s learned or heard. The person I knew last week is not the same one this week. Something shifts; time and direct experience had its way with them again. We are all like babies wearing the badge of adulthood. Fundamentally, still learning in the school of life. Still making mistakes and growing. I am learning that to know someone deeper, I must be adaptable to the versions of them that I am presented with. Can I listen to this person with an open heart and mind again? Can I say yes to this new moment? It’s too easy to find fault in others its harder to search deeply and see my own image reflecting in the face of another. I entitled this photograph, “ Saw you for the first time again”, as the subject eludes view of their face. From the seat of the viewer, I am left wondering who the mystery woman is. Mind is scrambling to tie any emotion to this photograph of a faceless person. Though this thread of thought has an end, I accept and show up with observation, listen, and become aware again, even when some questions are left unanswered. I see that everyone is a world within a world. A great mystery.

Hello world, in this life, I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light, doors continue to open, giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator, telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
