The photograph “By Stander” by Nkosi Gomez captures a stylized, fashion-forward figure positioned against a pale, angular wall. The setting feels urban and minimal, with cool-toned surfaces that contrast with the subject’s bold outfit.
The person is shown in profile, leaning slightly forward as if caught mid-step or in a poised, deliberate stance. Their face is obscured by a wide-brimmed black hat, adding a sense of anonymity and intrigue. They wear a striking, geometric-patterned jacket composed of bright, multicolored blocks—reds, yellows, blues, and greens—paired with a light skirt and dark tights. High-heeled shoes with visible studs or embellishments add texture and edge to the look.
The composition emphasizes clean lines and angles—the corner of the wall creates a sharp backdrop that mirrors the subject’s elongated posture. The contrast between the subdued environment and the vibrant clothing draws the eye directly to the figure, highlighting themes of individuality and presence within a quiet, almost indifferent space.
Overall, the image feels poised and cinematic, blending fashion photography with a sense of mystery and subtle motion, as if the subject is both part of the scene and slightly removed from it.
Photo finish: Legacy Etching is a pure white 100% cotton fibre paper with a textured matte finish. This paper simulates the touch and feel of old-world artist etching pads and handmade paper, but with the advantage of current technological improvements. It has an industry-leading microporous inkjet receptive layer that produces deep, rich blacks (Dmax), expanded color gamut, and gentle tonal gradations, and will provide outstanding image permanence and durability.
Frame NOT Included.

Hello world, in this life, I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light, doors continue to open, giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator, telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
