“Sorry I was under the sky” captures a moment that feels both accidental and meticulously composed—an uncanny intersection of body, object, and color.
A bright yellow bollard cuts vertically through the frame, anchoring the composition. At its base, a person’s head rests sideways on the concrete, curls fanned out, eyes closed, their expression suspended somewhere between rest and surrender. The vivid yellow of the post echoes the tone of their clothing, creating a visual continuity that binds subject and structure together.
Above, another figure is only partially revealed—legs dangling casually, clad in tailored brown trousers and woven leather shoes. Their feet hover just above the grounded figure’s face, introducing a subtle tension: closeness without contact, presence without acknowledgment. The tattoos on the ankles add a quiet intimacy, small personal details within an otherwise constructed scene.
The palette is deliberate—warm yellows, earthy browns, and soft skin tones against the neutral pavement—while the midday light sharpens every edge and shadow. The result is a composition that feels at once playful and disorienting.
The title suggests apology, but also displacement—being “under the sky” as both a literal and existential condition. The photograph reads like a surreal interruption of everyday space, where gravity, hierarchy, and narrative are slightly off-kilter. It invites questions without resolving them, holding the viewer in that same suspended, in-between state.
Photo finish: Legacy Etching is a pure white 100% cotton fibre paper with a textured matte finish. This paper simulates the touch and feel of old-world artist etching pads and handmade paper, but with the advantage of current technological improvements. It has an industry-leading microporous inkjet receptive layer that produces deep, rich blacks (Dmax), expanded color gamut, and gentle tonal gradations, and will provide outstanding image permanence and durability.

Hello world, in this life, I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light, doors continue to open, giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator, telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
