The photograph I’ll Try to Walk It Off by Nkosi Gomez presents a carefully composed architectural scene dominated by soft, pastel tones. A pale yellow building with rounded, mint-green trim frames the image. On the left, a door with a circular window sits beneath a rectangular window above it, where a “For Rent” sign is visible, hinting at transience or vacancy.

To the right, a solitary figure stands on a narrow ledge built into the wall. Dressed entirely in a vivid red outfit, the person faces the wall, their back turned to the viewer. Their posture is upright and still, with their feet close together at the edge of the platform, creating a subtle tension between balance and vulnerability.

The stark contrast between the bright red clothing and the muted building emphasizes the figure’s presence while also isolating them within the composition. The clean lines and geometric shapes of the architecture reinforce a sense of containment or emotional distance. Combined with the title, the image suggests themes of introspection, quiet resilience, or an attempt to move through or recover from something internal, even while physically remaining in place.

Photo finish: Legacy Etching is a pure white 100% cotton fibre paper with a textured matte finish. This paper simulates the touch and feel of old-world artist etching pads and handmade paper, while leveraging current technological improvements. It has an industry-leading microporous inkjet receptive layer that produces deep, rich blacks (Dmax), expanded color gamut, and gentle tonal gradations, and will provide outstanding image permanence and durability.

Hello world, in this life, I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light, doors continue to open, giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator, telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
