About

This Rwandan capture is a strong reminder of the nature of the mind. Let’s say you are the vacant room. Outside the window of that room is the mind and all its activities. When one’s attention is pulled out of the room symbolic of the self, their awareness lives in the realm of the mind. When I sit in complete stillness and silence, at first I am immediately confronted with the turbulence of thought. I call this mental gymnastics, as it’s the mind’s nature to receive and send out information constantly. With this understanding, I notice the more I focus my attention on the breath, the circles of thought become smaller and smaller until there is nothing at all. A state of complete being and self-awareness. There are infinite reminders through the photographs I produce that relate to getting back to self from moment to moment. Ofcourse I share this as a personal view from this side of the fire.

Hello world in this life I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light doors continue to open giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
