In “I feel supported here,” Nkosi Gomez stages a quiet, intimate tableau that plays with connection, dependence, and subtle disorientation.

Two figures sit closely side by side against a softly textured, neutral wall. Their bodies lean into each other, creating a sense of physical and emotional support. One wears a loose, monochromatic outfit in a saturated teal green; the other is dressed in a similarly styled outfit that fades from lavender into a soft purple gradient. The clothing is relaxed, almost uniform-like, giving them a shared visual language despite the contrasting colors.

Both figures cover their own eyes with one hand, obscuring their vision. This gesture introduces tension: while they are physically close and seemingly “supported,” they are also self-blinded, unable to see each other or their surroundings. Their heads turn slightly away from one another, reinforcing a quiet separation within the closeness.

The composition is minimal and controlled—muted background, soft natural light, and smooth tonal transitions—allowing the color contrast and body language to carry the meaning. The bench they sit on grounds them, but their poses feel slightly unnatural, as if staged to question what support actually looks like.
