In “Pieces don’t shapes” by Nkosi Gomez, the scene unfolds across a stack of weathered shipping containers painted in faded blue, yellow, and orange, set beneath a clear, pale sky. The industrial geometry of the containers creates strong horizontal and vertical blocks of color, each surface marked by rust, scratches, and signs of use.
At the center, a human figure—dressed in a bright yellow jacket, soft pink trousers, and light-colored shoes—leans forward over the edge of a blue container. Their upper body disappears completely inside the container, leaving only their lower half visible, legs dangling awkwardly over the side. The pose feels both intentional and absurd, as if the person has been partially absorbed into the structure.
The composition emphasizes contrast: soft, playful clothing colors against the rigid, utilitarian forms of the containers. The figure’s interruption of the clean lines introduces a sense of imbalance and curiosity. There’s no visible face or identity—just a fragment of a body interacting with an environment in a way that defies logic.
The image reads as surreal and quietly humorous, while also hinting at themes of fragmentation, disconnection, and the mismatch between individual presence and structured space. The title reinforces this tension—suggesting that even when pieces exist, they don’t necessarily resolve into a coherent whole.
Photo finish: Legacy Etching is a pure white 100% cotton fibre paper with a textured matte finish. This paper simulates the touch and feel of old-world artist etching pads and handmade paper, but with the advantage of current technological improvements. It has an industry-leading microporous inkjet receptive layer that produces deep, rich blacks (Dmax), expanded color gamut, and gentle tonal gradations, and will provide outstanding image permanence and durability.
This print ships within one week of the order date.

Hello world, in this life, I walk with a camera in hand as a tool and form of creative expression. When I was younger, I would hear doubts about how anyone could sustain a living through photography. I’ve learned that the world has more stories than it wants to tell. In the last 15 years of placing all my focus on studying and working in this medium, I can say confidently that everything needs visual representation in a modern world. Through capturing light, doors continue to open, giving more and more meaning to my life. I share these words and lean completely forward to one of my biggest dreams, putting my work out there in the physical form of a print. Your support during this time goes a long way. I am simply an instrument of our creator, telling a story through observation. I appreciate all your support and engagement as I set the intention to get more of my work out into our world.
